New Art Project :)

The theme is Beauty. The Painting is the face of Venus in Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus'. Its oil on board. In 'The Birth of Venus', Venus' neck is technically broken. Botticelli painted the head at an impossible angle, to lengthen the neck and make it more beautiful. So in the background of my replica of Venus' neck and face, I'm going to paint the X-ray of a broken neck. The drawing's of spines and neck bones are observational work for the project. The broken spine will be drawn as if it were Venus' shadow, following the curve of her neck. Thus the painting is to show the ugliness of reality vs. the beauty of the illusion.





This is the face zoomed in, and I contrasted it slightly on photoshop to make the lines slightly darker.



This is the face zoomed in, but when the lights are switched off, so that any light is purely natural, rather than my art rooms artificial lights. This hasn't been photoshopped...

I admire your artistic talent. :)

Have you considered uh... changing your avatar from MJ to something more.... aesthetically pleasing...?

i tried to change my avatar....but it didnt work...im so technologically retarded...it said i had suceeded in uploading the avatar, but nothing changed @_@ and the other one i tried to upload it said there was an error...
